Course Objective:
To introduce students to the principles of Universal Design (UD) and how they can be applied to create inclusive, accessible, and supportive work environments for people of all abilities and neurodiverse profiles.
Target Audience:
University students of any discipline, especially those preparing for internships, collaborative projects, or entering the workforce. No prior knowledge of design or accessibility required.
Learning Outcomes
- After completing this course, the learner can:
- Identify and explain the 7 core principles of Universal Design.
- Recognize barriers to inclusion in traditional work environments.
- Apply UD principles to redesign a workspace or workflow for greater accessibility.
- Select appropriate tools and technologies that support diverse cognitive and sensory needs.
- Reflect on how inclusive design benefits all users, not just those with disabilities.

- Duration: up to 30 minutes (can be delivered as a workshop or self-paced module)
- Prerequisites: None. Curiosity and openness to rethinking workplace norms are encouraged.
